Florida's children's Medicaid covers lower-income families at no cost, and Florida KidCare covers children in families well above the Medicaid limit for a low monthly premium. This tool isn't legal or benefits advice and can't decide eligibility — only the application does that. One Florida KidCare application screens your child for Medicaid for children, MediKids (ages 1–4), Florida Healthy Kids (ages 5–18), and the Children's Medical Services Health Plan for kids with special health-care needs. Florida Medicaid can also be applied for through the Department of Children and Families at myflfamilies.com/access. You fill out one form and get checked for everything.
A child who is a U.S. citizen or lawfully present can get Medicaid or KidCare no matter what the parents' status is, and the application asks about the child's status only — not the parents' — so parents don't have to give their own status or Social Security number. Under the current federal public-charge rule, a child's Medicaid or CHIP coverage is not counted against a parent's immigration case (USCIS — Public Charge Resources). A child without immigration status generally can't get full Medicaid or subsidized KidCare but can get emergency Medicaid, sliding-scale care at a community health center (HRSA Find a Health Center), and school-based health services — confirm your own situation with an immigration attorney or accredited representative.

Schools, clinics and other organizations can pay a monthly fee to offer the tool to their community, but that doesn't change what you enter or how it's handled.
