🧾Paystub AuditEvery line, explained. Anything odd, flagged.
Working families

Where did the money go? Line by line, in plain words.

Gross $1,240. Net $862. In between: FICA, 'MED', 'SUTA', a uniform deduction, something called 'ADV'. Paste the lines. You get each one explained, a check on whether the taxes look about right for your pay, and the two or three lines worth a question — before the next check.

Free audit

Paste the paystub.

Everything on it if you can — earnings, hours, each tax and deduction, year-to-date. Photos? Type the lines.

Free. Takes a few seconds.

Why this exists

Payroll errors are common. Most go unnoticed for years.

A wrong tax table, a deduction that never got cancelled, a 'uniform' fee that drops you under minimum wage. Thirty seconds reading the stub properly catches it.

How it works

Every line, explained. Then the two that matter.

01

Paste the stub

Earnings, hours, taxes, deductions, year-to-date. Add your state and pay period.

02

Get each line explained

What it is, whether it's normal for your pay, roughly what it should be. Anything unusual is flagged.

03

Ask the right question

The exact wording for payroll about the flagged lines — and what to do if it's a real error.

Plans

The audit is free. The full report costs less than the 'uniform' fee.

For one worker, or a union local that wants every member checking every stub.

Common questions

Is this legal or tax advice?

No. Paystub Audit explains common paystub lines and checks the arithmetic you typed, but it is not tax or legal advice. It can't see your W-4, benefits elections, or employer policies, so confirm anything important with payroll.

Is it really free? Is what I paste stored?

The first audit is free, as stated in the tool's description. The material doesn't say anything about how long pasted data is kept or where it goes, so that isn't something we can confirm here — ask the tool's own privacy notice if you want that detail.

What does the tool actually check?

You paste the lines from your paystub — earnings, taxes, deductions, year-to-date — and it explains what each one is, whether it looks normal, and roughly what it should be. It flags the two or three lines worth questioning and gives you the exact question to ask payroll.

What if I think my pay or deductions are wrong?

Paystub Audit can point out lines that look off and suggest a question for payroll, but it can't resolve wage disputes. For actual wage violations, contact the DOL Wage and Hour Division, which is free.

Can it see my W-4 or my benefits elections?

No. The tool only works from the lines you paste; it cannot see your W-4, your benefits elections, or your employer's specific policies. That's why the 'expected' amounts are approximations, not guarantees.
