Paste what came in and what went out — your words, your numbers. In a few seconds you get it sorted the way Schedule C wants it, the self-employment tax math computed, the next quarterly deadline, and reminder letters for clients who owe you. No account. Nothing stored.
Free — 30 seconds
Your words. Mark income with a +. Example: "+ cleaned 4 houses 480" then "gas 62, supplies 38".
How it works
Income with a +, expenses below. Your words. Nothing is saved.
Schedule C-style categories, the computed net and set-aside, the next IRS date.
The monthly sheet and the polite reminder letters, EN/ES — in the full version.
Why this exists
Most 1099 workers find out what they owe once a year, all at once. The math is mechanical: sort the shoebox, compute the set-aside, put it away every month — and send the polite letter to the client who's 'getting to it'.
Plans
The free look sorts your numbers and computes the set-aside. The plan adds unlimited sorts, the monthly summary sheet, and payment-reminder letters in both languages.
Unlimited sorts, the monthly summary sheet for your preparer, and polite reminder letters in English and Spanish.
Several people, one plan — everyone's shoebox sorted.
All prices in USD, handled by Stripe. The free sort and set-aside math never go behind a paywall.
Common questions
The first look is free, and nothing you paste is stored. Recibo also offers a Monthly plan ($4.99 per month) and a Crew plan ($19 per month) for extra features like the payment-reminder letters.
You paste your income and expenses however you already track them, and Recibo sorts them into plain Schedule C-style groups like supplies, vehicle/gas, insurance, phone, equipment, and meals. It's honest about limits — meals on work days are generally only partly deductible, and anything that looks personal gets flagged 'ask a tax preparer.' It never invents deductions you didn't mention, like mileage or a home office.
That set-aside is Recibo's computed estimate of self-employment tax only (Social Security + Medicare), using the IRS mechanics of 92.35% of net times 15.3%. It does not include federal income tax, which comes on top and depends on your whole household return — Florida has no state income tax. For the full picture, a CPA or the IRS's own estimator decides the real number.
Recibo shows the next quarterly date from its computed table, tied to Form 1040-ES. Estimated payments themselves are made using Form 1040-ES at irs.gov/payments.
No — Recibo sorts your own numbers and computes the set-aside using the IRS's published mechanics, but it can be wrong and is not tax, legal, or accounting advice. The categories are suggestions for a preparer, not a filing; a CPA or free VITA help (IRS VITA locator) gives you the real answer.
