Paste the proposal — the system size, the price, the financing, the savings claim, the term. In a few seconds you get what kind of deal it is, what Florida and federal rules actually apply, what's missing or inflated, and the questions to ask before you sign. No account. Nothing stored.
Free — takes 30 seconds
Paste the proposal, quote or contract text — or type the key numbers: system size (kW), total price, monthly payment and term, the financing type, the claimed savings, the escalator if any, and your current monthly electric bill.
Why this exists
Solar can be a good buy in Florida — at the right price, owned outright, on a roof that will last. The same panels sold as a 25-year lease with a 2.9% escalator and a PACE lien can cost a retiree the equity in the house. The difference is eight questions asked before the tablet is signed. This asks them.
How it works
Size, price, financing, term, the claims, your bill. Nothing is saved.
The deal type, the fine print, the claims checked against Florida's rules — in English or Spanish.
The written question list, the cancellation notice, the three-quote sheet and the tax-credit check, in the full version.
Plans
The free check tells you what the deal is and what's in the fine print. The kit writes the question list, the cancellation notice, the three-quote comparison and the tax-credit worksheet.
The written question list for the installer, the 3-day cancellation notice, a three-quote comparison sheet, the license-check steps and the tax-credit reality worksheet. English or Spanish. Printable.
For a credit union offering its own solar or home-improvement loans, a HUD counseling agency, an elder-abuse advocate or a county consumer office that sees these contracts after signing.
All prices in USD, handled by Stripe. The free check never goes behind a paywall.
Common questions
No — under Florida's net-metering rule (FPSC Rule 25-6.065), extra power you send back is credited at the retail rate month to month, but any surplus left at year's end is paid out at a much lower wholesale rate, and fixed customer charges keep showing up on the bill. If you're on a municipal or co-op utility, ask them for their own net-metering tariff, since it can differ. This tool explains the rule; it doesn't calculate your specific savings.
The first look is free, and nothing you paste is stored. If you want the full written breakdown, the Before-you-sign kit is $9 for one proposal; credit unions and advocacy groups can get ongoing access for $99/month. Either way, this is not legal, financial, tax or engineering advice.
No — the residential clean energy credit belongs to whoever owns the system, so on a lease or a power-purchase agreement the solar company keeps the credit, not you. The credit is also non-refundable, meaning it only offsets taxes you actually owe, so check the IRS Residential Clean Energy Credit page for the current rate and dates and confirm with a tax preparer before you count on it.
PACE lets you repay the solar cost through your property tax bill, but that makes it a senior lien on your home under Florida's authorizing statute (Fla. Stat. 163.08) — meaning it can come ahead of your mortgage and has blocked refinancing or selling for some homeowners. Of the ways to pay for solar (cash, loan, lease, PPA, PACE), this tool treats PACE as the highest-risk structure and says so plainly. It doesn't tell you whether to sign — that's a call for you and a professional.
If the sale happened at your home, the FTC's Cooling-Off Rule and Florida's home-solicitation rule generally give you three business days to cancel in writing — the seller is required to give you a cancellation form. After that window, whether you can get out depends on what the contract itself says, and this tool can't tell you that — read the cancellation clause or ask a professional.
