Florida law makes insurers discount the wind portion of your premium for features many homes already have — a hip roof, a newer roof deck, impact windows, a braced garage door. One inspection form documents them. Describe the house; see what likely applies before you pay for anything.
Free credit check
Year built, roof shape and age, window/door protection, garage door, roof replaced when — or paste the wind-mitigation report you already have.
Why this exists
Since the 2000s, §627.0629 makes insurers credit verified wind-resistant features. A 2020 roof replacement alone usually changes the answers on half the form — but with no OIR-B1-1802 on file, the insurer rates the house as if nothing was done.
How it works
Roof, openings, year built, replacements with permits. Or paste the report you already have.
Which of the 7 form questions your description likely answers favourably, and which one feature is the gap.
What documents to have out (roof permit!), what the inspector photographs, and — paid — the prep sheet plus the upgrade order that pays back first.
