What GroceryGap Does
GroceryGap helps you compare one grocery item across stores or brands in Florida. It shows live prices when a store publishes them. It helps you do the math yourself when a store does not.
Where the Prices Come From
Some stores publish their prices online. GroceryGap reads Kroger prices through the Kroger API. It reads Walmart prices when the Walmart affiliate feed is connected.
Other stores do not publish prices anywhere. These include Publix, Aldi, Winn-Dixie, and BJ's. For these stores, you type in what the shelf tag says. GroceryGap does the math from there.
The Math: Per Ounce, Per Count, Brand vs Brand
GroceryGap breaks down the price of an item so you can compare it fairly:
- Price per ounce
- Price per count
It also compares store brand versus name brand, so you can see which one costs less for the same size.
What "Savings Over a Year" Means
Once you enter or pull up prices for one item, GroceryGap shows what switching brands or stores would save you over a year, based on the numbers you gave it or the numbers a store published.
This is an estimate. It depends on the prices you enter or the prices a store shows on the day you check. Prices change. Confirm the shelf price before you buy.
