When Is the FFAA Deadline for Bright Futures?

What the FFAA is

The Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) is the one form used for Bright Futures and for state grants like the Florida Student Assistance Grant. Submitting it is a required step for every Bright Futures award — Academic Scholars, Medallion Scholars, and Gold Seal Vocational/CAPE. Apply through the FFAA — Florida Financial Aid Application.

When the FFAA is due

The FFAA is typically due by the student's senior-year deadline, often August 31 after graduation. But check the current date — the state sets the deadline each year, and it can change. Don't guess; confirm it on the FFAA site linked above before the school year gets busy.

Who evaluates your student

Along with the FFAA, the student must be evaluated by the high school. Home-education and private-school students have their own evaluation routes, which are different from the standard public-school process. Check the requirements with the school or district office, and confirm the current process on the FFAA site.

Don't forget the test-score deadline

SAT, ACT, and CLT scores are accepted for Bright Futures, and scores may be superscored across administrations under the current rule. The deadline for submitting test scores is typically June 30 after graduation — again, check the current date. Fee waivers exist for eligible students; see College Board — SAT fee waivers.

Confirm everything on the official chart

Every course, GPA, test-score, and hours requirement for each award is listed on the official OSFA chart, and it's specific to the graduating class.
