Who Approves HOA Director Education in Florida?
Only a provider approved by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes, can deliver the education a new HOA director needs and issue the certificate. This guide, and the free tool linked below, are not an approved provider. They cannot teach the course and cannot issue your certificate. The 90-Day Filing Deadline
Under Fla. Stat. 720.3033, a new HOA director has 90 days after being elected or appointed to file a certificate showing the department-approved course is complete. A director who does not file on time is suspended from the board until they comply.

Annual Continuing-Education Hours
The same statute sets ongoing yearly hours: 4 hours for an association with fewer than 2,500 parcels, and 8 hours for an association with 2,500 or more. The new-director certificate itself stays valid for up to 4 years.
What the Association Keeps on File
The association retains the certificate for 5 years so members can inspect it. Ask your board secretary or community association manager where those records are kept.
Condominiums Follow a Different Statute
This guide covers Chapter 720, homeowners' associations. Condominiums fall under Chapter 718 and follow different director-certification rules. If you serve on a condominium, cooperative, timeshare, or mobile home board, don't rely on this page — that's a different statute.
