The 104-week limit on temporary benefits
Florida limits temporary total disability (TTD) and temporary partial disability (TPD) benefits, combined, to 104 weeks. This limit comes from Florida Statutes chapter 440 (440.15), as reflected in the calculator for 2025–26.
The 104 weeks are computed from the dates you type — your injury date and how long you've been out or on light duty. This is a check on the number, not a filing with the state or your carrier.
The 7-day waiting period
Florida comp has a 7-day waiting period rule built into the calculator's logic. That's why an initial gap in your first week without pay can be normal, not a mistake — but the carrier's wage statement and the authorized doctor's status still control the real answer for your claim.
Temporary total vs. temporary partial (light duty)
While you're within the 104 weeks, you may be paid one of two ways:
- Temporary total disability (TTD): 66⅔% of your average weekly wage, up to the state maximum.
- Temporary partial disability (TPD): different math applies if you've been released to light duty and are working reduced hours or pay.
The tool computes both against the dates and pay you type in, and against the state maximum for the year — which changes every year.
After the 104 weeks: impairment income benefits
Once you reach maximum medical improvement (MMI) — and once the 104-week limit on TTD/TPD is reached — impairment income benefits may apply instead. The calculator includes this step, but the authorized doctor's finding of MMI and impairment rating are what actually set this benefit, not the calculator.
