Instacart Deactivated You With No Reason Given? Next Steps

What "no reason given" usually means

Instacart's deactivation notices often don't explain why. That doesn't mean there's no reason — it usually falls into one of a few common categories.

The review path is the same no matter which one applies: use whatever option the notice itself names, as soon as possible, and keep your confirmation.

If a background check was involved

If your notice mentions a consumer report, a background check company, or a "driving record" pulled from a report, you have rights under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. You can get a free copy of the report from the company named in the notice. You can dispute anything inaccurate or incomplete with that company, and it must generally investigate within 30 days. The platform must have given you a copy of the report and a summary of your rights before making a final decision. See CFPB — background checks & your rights. If you win a dispute, send the corrected report along with your review request. A correction doesn't guarantee reinstatement. This is general information, not legal advice.

Evidence that helps, depending on the type

Suspicious activity or account sharing

These are usually algorithm-triggered. Gather order and trip records, GPS history, bank deposit records, and photos. Do not create a new account under another identity to keep working — that usually leads to a permanent ban.

A safety report from a customer

Keep your review request factual and short: what happened, when, any dashcam or camera footage, witnesses, and messages. Dashcam footage is usually the single most useful evidence. Don't speculate about who reported you or what they said.

Ratings or cancellations

Screenshot your own stats in the app. Attach any messages showing cancellations that were outside your control — wrong address, unsafe pickup, customer no-show. Some platforms reinstate after a course or waiting period; ask about that in your review request.

Use the platform's own appeal path — no deadline guessed here

Platforms change their appeal windows, so the notice you received is the authority on how much time you have. Use whichever path it names — in-app Help, "Request a review," or the support email written in the notice — as soon as possible, and keep the confirmation.

Income while you appeal

Florida generally classifies transportation network company drivers as independent contractors under Fla. Stat. 451.01, which usually affects eligibility for state reemployment assistance. But FloridaCommerce decides each case, so you may still apply — confirm your situation with the agency directly at FloridaCommerce Reemployment Assistance. For emergency help, call 211. What to do next

This page is general information, not legal advice — it can't tell you exactly why you were deactivated. The free tool reads your own notice and your own words, and tells you the likely reason, the platform's own review path, and the evidence that matters for your specific case.
