What day is Florida sales tax due each month
Use the free tool — Compliance Calendar FL
The short answer
Florida sales tax returns are due on the 1st of the month. They become late after the 20th of the month that follows your filing period. This is set by the Florida Department of Revenue.
Why your due date can look different
Not every business files the same way. Your filing frequency — monthly, quarterly, semiannual, or annual — depends on how much sales tax you collect in a year. That decides how many due dates you have, not the day of the month itself. The 20th-of-the-month rule stays the same either way.
- Monthly filer: a due date every month.
- Quarterly, semiannual, or annual filer: fewer due dates, same 1st-and-20th rule.
The Department of Revenue sets your frequency based on your account, not a guess. Confirm yours on your DOR account or by calling the agency.
Other Florida dates that tend to land nearby
Sales tax is not the only date on a Florida LLC's calendar. A few others worth knowing:
- The Florida annual report is due May 1, filing opens January 1, and a $400 late fee applies after that — through Sunbiz.
- Reemployment tax (form RT-6), if you have employees, is due quarterly: April 30, July 31, October 31, and January 31 — Florida DOR reemployment tax.
- Workers' compensation coverage is required at 4 or more employees for most businesses, or 1 or more for construction — Florida CFO.
- Local business tax receipts expire and usually renew by September 30 each year, per Fla. Stat. 205.053. Rules vary by county and city.
What we don't know without your numbers
We don't know your filing frequency, your industry, or your county — those change which dates actually apply to you. Some professional and business licenses through the DBPR also renew on their own separate cycle. If any of this depends on numbers or a license type we don't have, check with a Florida CPA or the office linked instead of guessing.
What to do next
Compliance Calendar FL is a free tool that reads your own formation date, county, and industry — not a generic list — and gives you the deadlines that actually apply, each one dated and linked to the office that sets it. No account, nothing stored.
This page is not legal or tax advice and can be wrong. Confirm every deadline at the linked office, and ask a Florida CPA about anything that depends on your numbers.
